7475 Aluminum Sheet Plate

7475 aluminum sheet and plate is an aerospace-grade material belonging to the 7000-series aluminum-zinc-magnesium-copper (Al-Zn-Mg-Cu) alloy family. It is widely recognized in the aviation industry for delivering ultra-high strength comparable to 7075, while offering markedly superior fracture toughness, corrosion resistance, and fatigue crack propagation resistance.

MESSAGE

Overview

7475 aluminum sheet plate is a high‑strength Al-Zn-Mg-Cu 7000‑series aerospace alloy. While possessing high strength comparable to 7075 aluminum, 7475 features remarkably better fracture toughness, along with excellent corrosion resistance and fatigue performance. It is perfectly suited for scenarios that require superior mechanical strength, reliable fracture toughness, and strong resistance to fatigue crack growth, typical of which is aircraft fuselage skin.

Surface RequirementsThe surface is smooth, free of defects such as scratches and oxide skin to ensure that the aluminum plate will not be corroded or damaged during use.

Feature

1.High strength: the tensile strength can reach 500 to 600 MPa and even higher in certain tempers (up to 791 MPa in T76), far exceeding ordinary aluminium alloys.

2.Good corrosion resistance: the addition of chromium and other alloying elements enables the alloy to resist corrosion in diverse environments including seawater and acid rain.

3.Good machinability: 7475 can be easily processed, formed, and welded to meet varied application requirements.

4.Good wear resistance: the alloy exhibits high surface hardness and performs well under high-stress and high-friction conditions.

5.Good high-temperature performance: 7475 maintains thermal stability at elevated temperatures and does not easily deform or lose strength, making it suitable for components exposed to aerodynamic heating.

Application

7475 is primarily used in the aerospace field. Specific applications include fuselage skins, fuselage bulkheads, wing upper and lower skins, wing spars, airfoils, and fuel tanks.
